LM5150-Q1: Schematic Review Request

Part Number: LM5150-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM51501-Q1,

Hello,

Could you review attached LM5150QRUMRQ1 schematic and let me get the result?

Please let me know if there is any miss in the schematic.

-. 12V_M_PW = Car Battery

-. BUB_PW = 4.2V Li-ion Battery

-. VBAT_BUB_Boosted = 9.5V / 2.6A

-. VOUT Filter check

Regards,

Nicky

  • Hi Nicky,

Thank you for reaching out.  We will review this and get back to you tomorrow.

  • Hi Nicky,

    Thanks for sending the schematic.

I have a few things to note.

The first thing is that your output filter looks ok, so if you would like to add a small resistor (in between 0 Ohm to 2 Ohm or less) from the output to VOUT pin, that is ok.

Second thing I want to mention is that your VSET resistor is set to 54.9KOhm, which result in 8.5V output instead of 9.5V. Is the 9.5V on the schematic a typo?

Third thing is your connection for Q15 and Q17. Can you explain what the design is trying to do here? If both inputs are on at the same time, I'm afraid that you will have fighting duty cycles at the LO pin. One thing I can recommend is to OR the BUB-PW and 12V-M_PW at one of the inductor so this conflict does not occur.

    Thanks,

    Richard

  • Hi Richard,

    There is part number typo.

The exact part number is LM51501QRUMRQ1 (LM51501-Q1).

    Could you review schematic again?

    Sorry for confusing you.

    Regards,

    Nicky

  • Hi Nicky,

Thank you for clearing up my confusion. The notable difference between the LM5150-Q1 and LM51501-Q1 can be seen in the output voltage selection. In this case, you have the correct resistor set for 9.5V output.

The comment about the output filter remains the same.

Upon more review on the second item regarding Q15 and Q17, it looks like it is suitable.

    Thanks,

    Richard
