BQ2970: 2.2K V- Circuit function

Part Number: BQ2970

I am doing a DFMEA on this circuit and one of my failure modes is if the 2.2K resistor on the V- pin is not there or is a different value what happens.  The description of how it works is not well described.  Is there a simplified internal circuit for this pin?  I need to understand what will happen if this pin is open or the resistor is a different value.  Needed information is for both charge and discharging conditions.

Thanks,

Erik

  • Hi Erik,

The available diagram is in the BQ2970 data sheet section 9.2

The electrical specifications shown the current and resistances of the V- pin.  Altering the connection of the pin will alter the detection and recovery thresholds.  Description of the behavior is in section 9.4.  There is no direct description of the behavior of changing the V- pin connection.
