TPS7A88-Q1: PSPICE Model with AC response

Part Number: TPS7A88-Q1

Hi all,

Would it be possible to get a model of the TPS7A88-Q1 LDO that is capable of running AC analysis in SPICE.

The current model is transient only.

Thanks,

Tijana

  • Hi Tijana,

Our LDO models are functional models which help users assess the device's general performance, we do not create full AC models of our LDOs. If you need to test more specifically we recommend using the device's EVM to  take a more detailed look at the device's performance. This gives you the opportunity to use the actual passive components you will use in your application and evaluate if the transient response will meet your requirements.

  • Thanks Kyle,

Quick question - does TI not provide the AC model because it would be proprietary?

Or, is this something that could be made available with NRE cost?

    Thanks,

    Tijana

  • Hi Tijana,

This varies depending on the type of product. Simpler products such as op-amps often release AC models because of the lower complexity of such models. For our LDO's we are continuously trying to improve the models we provide and would like to get to the point of having a model which could be used to evaluate things like stability in simulations. That being said, this is a long term effort as there are some major challenges in modeling this since most modern LDOs have multiple internal control loops including and so you must accurately capture the behavior and interaction of each control loop.
