Looking for E-ink panel driver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65186, TPS65185

Would you please help to give some recommendation about the PMIC selection for E Ink design. Input of this PMIC could be 3.3 or 5V. The PMIC need to have the +-15V output for source and +28/-22V output for gate on Thin Film Transistor.Is TPS65186 ok?

  • Hi,

The TPS65185/TPS651851/TPS65186 are all capable of meeting the voltage requirements for the VPOS, VNEG, VGL, VGH, VCOM, and VASM. Keep in mind the panel's logic supply (VDD) will need to be supplied and sequenced separately. This external VDD can additionally be used for the PMIC logic IO and I2C lines.

Please also note that, due to the high maximum current requirements, the DCDC converters will need to supply the VPOS and VNEG rails instead of the LDOs. Since the DCDC converters also supply the charge pumps, VPOS will have to power up before VGH, and VNEG will have to power-up before VGL. Based on the power sequence list requirements, this is acceptable. However, the power sequence drawing shows VGL powering up before VNEG. This kind of sequence will not be possible if using the TPS65185/TPS651851/TPS65186 in this application.

    Thanks,

    Gerard
