BQ2970: How to avoid FET voltage drop

Part Number: BQ2970

Hi,

I am considering using BQ29702 for the purpose of overdischarge control.
If you look at the recommended circuit in the data sheet, you have connected the FET to the overcharge and overdischarge control pins (COUT, DOUT).
At that time, the voltage range on the Pack side should decrease as shown in the figure below due to the forward voltage drop of the FET.
Please tell me if there is an over discharge limit method that can avoid the FET voltage drop.

Best regards,

  • Hi Kaji,

When the FETs are turned on, the current will not flow through the FETs without a voltage drop and does not flow through the body diode. Normally both FETs will be enabled unless there is a protection fault that triggers them to turn off. In this case, you want to disconnect the load or the charger depending on the fault.

    Best regards,

    Matt
