TPS62811-Q1: Higher inductance than recommended

Part Number: TPS62811-Q1

Hi team,

Vin=5V, Vout=1.8V, Iout=0.5 to 1A Fsw=2.1MHz

If I calculate inductance based on 30% inductor ripple current, the inductance should be around 1.8uH.

So I would like to use 1.8uH to 2.2uH coil for LC filter with matched output capacitance.

But the datasheet suggestion is about 0.47uH to <1uH.

Is there any restrictions increasing the inductance?

regards,

  • Hi,

    The equations 8 & 9 on page:18 of the datasheet are used only to calculate maximum Inductor current and Ripple Current respectively. The reverse calculation for Lmin using this equation is not possible. The device is designed such that the customer can choose from the list of recommended components according to the application requirements. So, it is highly recommended to follow 'Recommended Operating Conditions' given in Section 7.3.

    I hope I could answer your question.

    Regards,
