TPS2120: TPS2120 as a relay and it's slew rate performance

Part Number: TPS2120

Dear,

I would like to use a TPS2120 as a relay that would have a 17 V on the first input (In1) and that would be not connected on the second input (In2).

I will use the SEL pin to switch between both inputs.

In a first time would like that you confirme me it could be done?

In a second time I would like to know if the TPS2120 could perform an at least 3500 V/s slew rate (up to 17000 V/s max) for a max current of 32 mA and a load capacitor from 1 to 10 pF?

Best regards,

Romain

  • Hi Romain,

    Welcome to E2E!

With IN2 not connected to anything  it would be an invalid input. For his reason the output would be IN1 (17V) if SEL is toggled low and will output HI-Z when SEL is toggled high. This should still work in your application since HI-Z essentially means there will be no output on the device.

The slew rate of the device is set by the capacitor set on the SS-pin of the TPS2120. There is no test data for your specific loading condition, but the desired slew rate could be achieved by either leaving the SS-pin open or connecting a small capacitor in the pF to nF range.

    Best regards,
