TLC5954: LED RGB Driver, Low Iq

Part Number: TLC5954
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP5569, LP5523

Hello,

we are looking for an RGB LED driver with as many channels as available and a low Iq for battery powered applications.

The TLC5954 seems to be interesting, how much is Iq when the device is shutdown? The datasheet mentions a power-save mode, is this different from actually being off?

Thank you and best regards,

Ambroise

  • Hi Ambroise,

What is your VCC/BLANK condition of 'shutdown'? Power-save mode let the device back to normal work very quickly, which is different from being off.

We have some device designed for battery powered applications like LP5569 and LP5523, with low supply current. But all of them do not have much channel number, comparing with TLC5954. What the application that customer used? With so much LEDs, I think current consumption on LEDs would be much larger than driver IC.

  • Hi Hardy,

The application would be a keyboard. The goal would be to reduce current draw when the device is in standby, so the VCC would be on, but LED's off.

    Thank you for your support.

    Best regards,

    Ambroise

  • Hi Ambroise,

In this condition Iq is the same as power saving mode.
