CSD16415Q5: device persistence time if Vgs beyond normal range

Part Number: CSD16415Q5

Hi team,

If Vgs beyond -12V~16V, how long can CSD16415Q5 persist to work?

My customer wonders the device persistence time if Vgs beyond normal range. Please kindly provide the data, thank you!

Best Regards,

Miranda

  • Hi Miranda,

Thanks for promoting TI FETs at your customers. TI does not recommend or guarantee operation of our FETs when exceeding the datasheet absolute maximum limits. How long a FET will continue to operate when exceeding the VGS abs max limits is dependent upon how high the voltage is and how long it is applied. In general, exceeding the abs max VGS ratings of the FET by a small amount, say 1V to 5V, will not result in immediate failure of the device. However, it will result in degradation (reduced Vthr) over time and eventually will cause the FET to fail. If the voltage applied to the gate-source 2x to 3x the abs max value, the FET will most likely fail immediately. Lastly, I will again point out that TI cannot guarantee operation of our FETs if the datasheet abs max limits are exceeded nor do we have any data to indicate how long the FET will continue to operate under such conditions.
