UA78M: 24V input, 3.3V 200mA output

Part Number: UA78M

Can UA78M  support 24V input, 3.3V  200mA output?

If not ,is there other good choices?

  • Hello Qianqian,

If the device will be operating at or close to room temperature, and you choose the correct package, then yes this will work.
The watts dissipated across the device is (24-3.3)*(200mA) = 20.7*0.2 = 4.14 watts.
The thermal resistance (junction to ambient) for the KC and KCS package is 19 C/W.
    So the temperature rise is 4.14 W * 19 C/W = 78.66C.
If room temperature is 25C then the total temperature is 25 + 78.66 = 103.66C.
The device is rated to operate at 125C, so you have around 20C of margin.

    Thanks,
