TPS61088: Capacitor

Part Number: TPS61088

There was a description in the URL below that the TPS61088 was no longer damaged when the electrolytic capacitor was removed.
The TPS61088 data sheet specifies the capacitance up to 1000uF, but is it better to reduce the capacitance?
If so, how much should the maximum capacity be reduced?

  • Dear Sir,

In that case, the layout is very poor. the power trace is long and thin. This will cause high voltage spike at the SW node, which may cause failure. Especially at the high Vout condition.

It is OK for the TPS61088 with big cap load if the layout is good.

What is your Vin, Vo, Io and the capacitance you want to used?
