LM1117: Failure modes in lower temperatures

Part Number: LM1117

Greetings,

This is a request from our customer from GILBARCO VEEDER ROOT INDIA.

Now customer is using LM1117MPX-3.3 in product ranges which is rated for 0-125degC.

he want to know the failure modes of this device when operated at lower temperatures .. say -25degC or -40degC.
The thing is as per his design it is LM1117I but our EMS vendor have used LM1117 only.

so he want to know the failure modes of already manufactured boards.
so that he can ensure what is the expected behaviour,
when operated at negative temperatures.

can you give me some suggestion or information?

who is know more about this device.

Thank u in advance.

Regards,

  • Hi M123456,

I can't find any data on this older device, but there are two versions of the iMPX and MPX. The 'i' version has been tested and characterized down to -40C.

Usually, at the colder temperatures, the biggest impact could be on the output voltage accuracy. In other devices, there could be cold startup issues. While I don't believe this is the case with this device, I would recommend that they move over to theLM1117iMPX-3.3.

Can they test the product already manufactured to see if there are any issues?

    I hope this helps.

  • thank you so much
