Hello
Can I build a 1/250 microstop driver with DRV8711 and CSD18540Q5B?
Is Qg suitable for this?
Qg Gate charge total (10 V) : 41 - 53 nC

  • Hi Abolfazl,

Thanks for the inquiry. Below is a link to a technical article on selecting FETs for motor drive applications. I have applications responsibility for the FETs and this question is better answered by the motor drives applications team responsible for the DRV8711. I will send this to them after posting my response.

    Hello
Can I build an 8-52V microstrip driver with DRV8711 and CSD17510?
    Is Vds suitable for this?
    Vds: 30v
What specifications should I pay attention to when choosing a MOSFET for the DRV8711?

Please introduce some MOSFETs for DRV8711.

  • Hi Abolfazl,

Thanks again for the inquiry. Please refer to the technical article in my response to your other post. When selecting a FET, you must first make sure that BVDSS is greater than the input voltage. If your input voltage is 52V max, then you need at least a 60V FET. I will forward this onto the DRV8711 apps team to help with the details.

  • On the H bridge, two MOSFETs are placed in series in the circuit, and if the Vds of each MOSFET is 30 volts, the H bridge can support 60 volts.
    Is this sentence correct?

  • Thank you. I am waiting for your detailed answer.

  • Hi Abolfazl,

Your two threads have been merged.

On the H bridge, two MOSFETs are placed in series in the circuit, and if the Vds of each MOSFET is 30 volts, the H bridge can support 60 volts.
    Is this sentence correct?

When the high side is active the Vds of the low side FET is VM Volts. When the low side FET is active the Vds of the high side FET is VM Volts. As John said, the BVDSS must be greater than the input voltage (VM voltage of the DRV8711).

    Can I build a 1/250 microstop driver with DRV8711 and CSD18540Q5B?
    Is Qg suitable for this?
    Qg Gate charge total (10 V) : 41 - 53 nC

If you mean 1/250, no you cannot. The DRV8711 has an internal indexer that will allow microsteps in powers of 2.
To create 1/250, you will need a different device.

If you mean 1/256, yes you can use the DRV8711 and CSD18504Q5B.

The CSD18531Q5B can be used as an alternative. The DRV8711EVM uses CSD18531Q5A (higher Rdson, but less expensive option).

  • Thank you very much for your explanation.
I asked a question about CSD18540, but you wrote in response to CSD18504.
    Can I use CSD18540?

  • Sorry, that was a typo,

The response should have stated CSD18540Q5B. The CSD18504Q5B does not exist.
