LMZ21700: LMZ21700 or TPS82150 for new design

Part Number: LMZ21700
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS82150

We are designing new DCDC. now we are considering  LMZ21700 or TPS82150 for new design. Both meet our design requirement. we only need 0.2A for 5Vout

from TIonine store TPS82150 is slightly cheaper. newer( 2017?) and delivery more max Io. I'm not sure when we gonna

would there be any benefit for us to consider LMZ21700 over TPS82150 ?

  • Hi Chayut,

The devices are similar so either one will work just as well as the other in most cases. One difference is in inductor value -- LMZ21700 uses a 2.2uH versus TPS82150 which uses 1uH. This could lead to a little lower output voltage ripple using the LMZ21700 than TPS82150. On the other hand, from a layout perspective, the TPS82150 perhaps has arguably simpler layout and comes in a smaller package than the LMZ21700.
