BQ25713: Asking for the BQ25713 design suggestion

Part Number:

Hi Sir,

My customer would like design BQ25713. Would you please review questions and provide your comment?

1. without VIN and VBAT, will the BQ25713 register be set as default value?

2.    after power cycle, do customer need to config all the register agin?

3.    do we have tool to provide the reference register’s setting?

4.    Is OTG mode enable with USB-C port?

5.   Can this tool selected the desired value and select “write register”?

Only can fill the value and select “write register”?

6.    VSYS and VBAT voltage supposed to be the same?

7.    Do MCU need to access the register and modify?

    Hi Sir,

My customer would like design BQ25713. Would you please review questions and provide your comment?

    1. without VIN and VBAT, will the BQ25713 register be set as default value?

BQ25713 will load default value after power on reset.

    2.    after power cycle, do customer need to config all the register agin?

Yes, BQ25713 will load default value after power on reset.

    3.    do we have tool to provide the reference register’s setting?

You can save settings then load settings in BQStudio.

    4.    Is OTG mode enable with USB-C port?

    Yes.

    5.   Can this tool selected the desired value and select “write register”?

    Yes.

Only can fill the value and select “write register”?

You can also send a I2C command, or write register using the GUI.

    6.    VSYS and VBAT voltage supposed to be the same?

VSYS can be higher than VBAT if dead battery.

    7.    Do MCU need to access the register and modify?

Yes, BQ25713 communicates with a host controller, such as MCU, to set the charge current and charge voltage, etc.

  • Hi Tiger,

Do we have tool to provide the recommendation register setting?

    BR,

    SHH

  • Hi, SHH,

We use BQStudio to set the register settings. We don't have other tools. The right panel shows the check boxes, it is straightforward. Most of the default values should be sufficient for the customer, you only need to set the charge current when starting charging.

  • Hi Tiger,

    thanks/

the following register seems not be able to read, is that right?

    BR,

    SHH

  • You need to enable ADC conversion in register ADC Option 0x3A. The ADC is disabled by default.
