LM5170: I am looking for a backup IC that can charge and discharge supercapacitors

Part Number: LM5170

Hi,

I am looking for a backup IC that can charge and discharge supercapacitors.
Normally, while supplying 5V input power to the system side, the supercapacitor is charged with the voltage reduced to 4.5V.
When the input power supply is cut off, 5V boosted using the power of the supercapacitor is supplied to the input power supply.
There seems to be a product called MAX38888 at MAXIM, and I think it can meet the specifications I envision.
I think the LM5170 applies to TI products, but is it possible to meet my specifications with the LM5170?
Are there any other good products?

Best regards,

  • Hi Kaji@PAN,

Thanks for reaching out with you question and for considering the LM5170.

What is the maximum power for you system? The LM5170 is design for systems that run high power (500W). If the power of your systems is quite low I feel like the LM5170 will be over kill.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Garrett
