I completed running cycle charging up to 100%, but the Update status did not change to 0x05. (FC value flagged)

Bit Registers is Update Status=0x04, FC=1, QEN=1, VOK=0, RDIS=0, REST=1

My cell specification is nomal voltage= 3.85v, max voltage= 4.4V, cut off voltage= 3.0V, 2910mAh, 11.2Wh and I am using 3 cells serial.

I received the GPC_report ( Best chemical ID:1181 Best chemical ID max, deviation, % : 3.12)

And I chose a COSLIGHT CA555070(2270mAh) 1181 LiCoO2/carbon3-4 program selected

Design Capacity mAh = 2910mAh

Design Capacity cWh = 3361 cWh (2910mAh x 3 serial x 3.85V / 10)

Design Voltage = 11550mV (3.85V x 3 cell)

What am i doing wrong?

Should the FC flag fail, do I have to start over from the beginning?

Should I have sent the GAUGE_EN command after waiting 5 hours? It is already flagged

I would need a bqStudo log file from you and I would suggest you redo the learning cycle from scratch.

I believe the Manufacturing Status[GAUGE_EN] should be set when you start over again and then just send the RESET command to set the RDIS flag and disable resistance updates during this initial discharge cycle.

Find the Start Log button in the Registers Window of bqStudio. Click it and you will be prompted to choose a log file name before you start the learning cycle. Share the bqStudo log file with us.

It seems like that the DOD0 after the battery cells are charged to full and relaxed was not captured.

Did you see the FC bit set?

Can you have the battery cells relax for a longer time? Basically, you wait until the [VOK] and [RDIS] bits both clear.

When charging is complete, the FC bit is set.
About 15 hours ago FC = 1

After a long time, the FC beats are erased and die.

VOK and RDIS are cleared.

The value of DOD0 in cells QMAX1,2,3 has been set.

After the battery cells are charged to full and well relaxed, the first QMax update is supposed to happen and the LStatus will change to 0x05. If you don't see that occur, provide a bqStudio log file.

The Design Capacity should be set to the number in the battery spec.

Also, I took a look at your gg you provided before.

You need to set the Qmax Cell 1 - 4 to the same as the design capacity before you start the learning cycle.

Qmax Cell 1~4 = 4400mAh(default) -> 2910mAh(cell specification) changed

After changing the Qmax Cell value, the running cycle was restarted.

1.Discharge Battery to Empty

2.Relax for at least 5 Hours

3.Charge Battery to Full

4.Relax for at least 2 Hours

I waited more than 2 hours but QMAX does not change automatically.

and Lstatus still remains at 0x04. It does not change automatically.

If this doesn't work, shouldn't we move on to the next step?

I can see the the first DOD0 for Qmax update was captured in your log file and its value seems good to me. The problem is the second DOD0 captured is not low enough.

It is recommended that the taper current be between C/100 and C/10 to ensure that the battery gets properly fully charged and therefore you need to set the Charge Term Taper Current to a value between 29mA and 291mA since you mentioned that the design capacity is 2910mAh.

Also, when you do the first charge cycle, I would suggest you keep charging the battery pack until the taper current is close to C/100 (29mA in your case) to make sure the the second DOD0 value will be low enough.

Besides, I have reviewed the current and voltage curves in your log files. These curves are not smooth at all to me and I can see some big spikes in these two curves. I would suggest you use a good-quality bench power supply to charge the battery pack.

I am trying to create a golden pack image. But that tab is not in bqstudio.

1. Has the Golden Image tab been changed to the Firmware tab?
2. How do I create a firmware image (golden image)?

I accidentally pressed the program button on the firmware tab.
It seems that the running cycle in progress has been reset.

Fortunately, there is a saved GG.CSV file and I imported it. (Lstatus 0x0a->0x02 changed)

Is there any problem creating firmware in this state? Or do I need to restart the run cycle?

There is no golden image tab for bq40z50. You can dump a srec file as a golden image in the Firmware tab.

Regarding your second question, the safest way is to run the learning cycle again. However, you can try to program the chemistry id and then import your gg file. It is most likely okay. Remember to do a charge and discharge cycle to check the SOC accuracy.
