LM5116: LM5116 could not work when current above 4A

Part Number: LM5116

Dear team,

When customer used LM5116 for application Vin 48V~57V, Vout 5V, Iout=10A, customer find the Vout will drop to 0 when current >4A. I attached schematic and PCB, hope you could kindly give some suggestion.

Thanks.

  • Hello Sammi,

Often I find this behavior to be related to a current limited input and/or the current limit of the buck kicking in.

Ensure that the input can supply the required input current to the buck.

In addition, to prove out the buck is not limiting the current, ensure that the appropriate R_s (sense resistor) is selected for the desired (peak) current limit.
