TPS722: Alternative solution for TPS72216

Hi Team,

I would like to request for assistance for an alternative product solution for the customer with the same specification of TPS72216 but with additional features base on the customer observation for his design.

Base on the customer, The problem is that the TPS72216 will not handle the situation where the load is a 50-ohm termination resistor such that the load is dumping current into the capacitor on the output of the TPS72216 when the signal is high.

The board has a 50 ohm transmission line that is terminated to a 50 ohm resistor that then goes to a 1.65 Volt power supply. The power supply is a linear LDO regulator. If the signal driving the transmission line is a static 3.3 volts, then it will slowly charge up the capacitor on the output of the power supply.

The customer needs an LDO like TPS72216 but has NFET plus PFET output stage.

Do we have something to offer with the customer for this requirement?

Hi Jonathan,

I think I can help but I'm having some difficulty understanding the customer's need.
Do they basically want something with the functionality of TPS722 but with the capability to have Vout > Vin without damaging the linear regulator?
If I misunderstood, it may be easier to show me a schematic or some type of drawing of the situation.
