Missed one thing, the ESD you are using must be bidirectional and  breakdown rating in 20V range.

The ESD protection in the 20 Volt range, is higher than the absolute maximum rating of the component.

Is this done so that the IC using the CLAMP function can do its job before the ESD diode ?

I chose the 12V diode because it was lower than VRECT-OVP but in a worst-case scenario this would remove the protection that VRECT-OVP provides.

I can replace the ESD diode with the PESD24VS1UL, which is a 24 volt ESD diode, do you agree ?

Could you in short elaborate why you prefer an ESD diode of around 20 volts ?

The absolute max for AC1 and 2 are 20V. Also, the RECT pin will set OVP fault at 15V. RECT which is also AC1 and 2 are taken care of above 15V. Some protection in the 20V range is fine.
