Hi Expert,

I want to confirm if my understanding about TPS650864 Power up sequencing configuration method is right.

According to datasheet 6.10 Power Sequencing and VR Control, there are three different ways of sequencing the rails during power up and power down, I want to confirm my understanding about CTRx control and PGOOD control.

1. For CTRLx control, I just need to connect CTRL1~CTRL6 pins to my FPGA GPIOs, then use FPGA code to configure the power rail sequence, right?

2.For PGOOD control, I just need to connect CTRLx to the power Good of its prior rail, right?

3.But for PGOOD control, there is only 4 GPO pins, so there are only 4 hardware PG pins can be used to connect with next power rail CTRLx, how can I control 6 power rails sequence?

Hi Rachel,

The majority of the TPS650864 control logic is inside the PMIC and is pre-programmed to a certain sequence. I would recommend looking at section 6-3 TPS6508640 Design and Settings as an example. Each of the 4 released versions has a pre-programmed sequence.

Alternatively, TPS650861 is the same product, but unprogrammed. The TPS65086100 Non-Volatile Memory Programming Guide is helpful in understanding how the sequencing can be programmed.
