I need to design a 5V @3A DC/DC converter having supply from 10V up to 17V which has to fit inside a 22mm x 9mm PCB having components on single side. I tried to make this design using the TPS563231 but I have thermal issues. The whole PCB is getting hot so I am assuming that thermal conduction is not the issue but rather, I need more copper area which I cannot supply due to the limited PCB size. Looking at other possible solutions, I came across the TLV62130 which although costing about twice the price, may offer much better thermal performance on my available space.
Before making a prototype, I would like to see if TI may have some suggestions regarding possible ICs to use for my application (ideally in the same price range of the previously mentioned ICs).
