LMR36015-Q1: LMR36015-Q1 Light Load Strategy

Part Number: LMR36015-Q1

Hello Team, request from customer:

I wonder if I have chosen the right persons to ask in TI, I just assume the Switching Regulators

are under Power. The subject component is enrolled in our component database, and it is

categorized under SMPS where we have attribute for “Pulse Skipping Mode” for light load or

low power mode.

However, in the Datasheet of this component, it doesn’t say explicitly about Pulse Skipping Mode

but it mentions PFM with emulated diode to allow DCM. Is PFM the same as Pulse Skipping Mode?

We would like to hear your concise technical explanation on this light load strategy. Our next question is,

what other light load strategies do you implement for your switching regulators, at least for Automotive

grade? The reason we ask this is, we are also making our technical manual for our component engineers.

Best Regards

Josef
