TPS22919: Parallell configuration to reduce ON-resistance

Part Number: TPS22919

Hi team,

My customer is interested in the current limit function of TPS22919. To reduce on-resitance of the load switch, is it no problem to use multiple TPS22919 in parallel like below tech note?

If there is anything customer need to care about in parallell configuration, could you please tell me how should customer do.

Regards,

Saito

  • Hi Saito-san,

Yes, TPS22919 can be paralleled. I just want to note that TPS22919 has short circuit protection. This will limit current in the event of a short.

When paralleling load switches, the effective resistance of each path must be equal. If this is not maintained, the current sharing between the two paths will not be equal. If the current sharing is not equal, one device may pass more current to the load than the max DC nominal current of TPS22919 which can cause damage.

Please let me know if you have further questions.
