Hello,

I would like to create a simulation model of TPS54040 for SIMPLIS.

For this I need to know:

What is the value of the internal slope compensation?
What is the value of the current sense gain?

I saw this question in this forum but there is no answer.

Could you help, please.

Hi Lev,

What's your application requirement?

Can you check if TPS560430 is OK for your application? TPS560430 has PSPICE model for circuit simulation.

Hello Andy,

Thank you for reply. I have already SPICE model for TPS54040 from TI and I successfully use it in Simetrix simulator which is SPICE simulator. But it is very hard to simulate frequency respond (Bode plot) with SPICE simulator. For this purpose is much better to use SIMPLIS which is piece-wise linear simulator, but it cannot use SPICE models. This is why I need to create a model for SIMPLIS and I am asking for your help for additional information which can not be found in datasheet.

Hi Lev,

Sorry it's hard to find out required data fro modeling as it's released 10 years ago.

Can you try it in Webench which also has loop response output?

Hello Andy,

I tried WEBENCH to develop an example from TPS54040 datasheet. This example works at 700 kHz, but WEBENCH does not allow setting the frequency above 500 kHz. WEBENCH is a great tool, but it's limited and doesn't allow much schema changes.

This is why our company wants to develop flexible tools which will allow to reduce design time and avoid costly mistakes.

Hi Lev,

The minimum controllable on time is typically 130ns and limits the maximum operating input voltage. Webench may use 230ns as Ton-min maximum value to limit the maximum input voltage.

The Fsw can be 696KHz if Vin below 30V.

Hi Andy,

Thank you for reply. In your previous post you suggested using WEBENCH. Now it turns out that WEBENCH does not match Datasheet. Who an unfortunate user of TI product should trust if you cannot provide sufficient information.
