BQ24192: USB-to-GPIO interface adapter needed for EVM?

Part Number: BQ24192

Good morning team,

I have a question about the BQ24192EVM-021 board. My customer is trying to read/write to the registers via the USB-mini port, but it doesn't seem to recognize the device.

They've read through the user manual and noticed a separate USB-to-GPIO interface adapter (HPA172) that connects to J3. Is this adapter the only way to communicate with the registers?

Thank you for your support!

  • Hi Errol,

The USB port (J7) is for providing power only.  The BQ24192 communicates with a host through I2C.  A USB-to-GPIO box at J3 connects to the chargers SDA and SCL pins and allows the use of the BQ24192 GUI software.  Alternatively, your customer can connect a host processor/controller directly to the SDA, SCL pins for communication.

    Regards,

    Jeff
