TLV700: current limit questions clarify

Part Number: TLV700

Hi Team,

1:how about the parameter for thermal,Ta=?,  Pd=?
2:as the datasheet description,it support Overcurrent Protection,but there is no current limit and the Overcurrent Protect base on Thermal shutdown.
there is no independent Overcurrent Protect feature?

  • Hi Tommy,

    The shutdown protection is ~160C:

    The power dissipation to reach this depends on the package:

    The Junction Temperature TJ is TJ=TA+(VIN-VOUT)*ILOAD*RTJA. Where TA is the ambient temperature of the application. The SOT package has the best thermal performance with an RTJA of 235.9C/W.

    For example, if your application has VIN=5V and VOUT=3.3V and the load current is 0.1A and the PCB ambient temperature is 40C, then you have:

    TJ=40+(5-3.3)*0.1*235.9= 80.1C.

    Does this answer your question?
