UCC24612: UCC24612 RC filter

Part Number: UCC24612

At present, UCC24612 is used in the design of +12V input High side MOS SR, R2 resistance as shown in Datasheet Page26.

For example fsw=85kHz, R2 has a minimum but maximum limit as above? Is there an optimized design?

Hello Rock,

If the maximum is above 28 V you cannot use this circuit to power the IC.

There is an application note that discuss how to extend the voltage range of SR drives with external circuitry different than what is presented in the data sheet.

Hi Mike,

So I can understand that if the output is 12V application the RC filter is not needed?
So why should UCC24612EVM add RC filter?

Hello Rock,

You need to determine that based on your maximum voltage across (VDD(max)) not just the output voltage.

You can use the following equation to calculate the maxim VDD voltage without the RC filter.

If it is below the data sheet max and within the recommended range. Yes you can us it.

Vddmax = Vout + Vinmax*Ns/Np

Hi Mike,

In high-side SR, the Rbias=R2 has a minimum by calculating but is it have a maximum limit value? Is there a suggested value?

My customer wants to know about that, thanks.

Hello,

The maximum calculated value should be less than the VDD max rating. To be safe I would de-rate this by 90%.
