LMR23610: Is the purpose of exposed pad and vias only for heat dissipation improvement?

My customer is considering to use step-down converter LMR23610.

He has questions as follows.

By checking the datasheet, I think the purpose of exposed pad and via on exposed pad are only for heat dissipation. 

But just in case, let me confirm with you.

【questions】

(1) The package has an Exposed Pad. Is there any purpose other than improving heat dissipation? (For example, Improve noise tolerance, etc.)


(2) There are vias on the Exposed Pad. For the vias, is there any purpose other than improving heat dissipation? (For example, Improve noise tolerance, etc.)
