BQ25600D: What is dotted line at T3 of figure12?

Part Number: BQ25600D

Hi team

The device is stopped when ambient temperature is Warm (45-60degC) although REG08 don't indicate fully charged.
Vreg is 4.208V, JEITA_VET is 4.1V and charging voltage is 4.1-4.208V.
When ambient temp is changed to Normal, charging will begin again.

I suspect the dotted line at T3 of Figure12 shows this operation but datasheet don't mention about this line.

Could you share what is root cause and the dotted line?

Best regards,
Koyo

  • Koyo,

Referring to 8.3.7.5 JEITA Guideline Compliance During Charging Mode on the d/s:

At cool temperature (T1-T2), JEITA recommends the charge current to be reduced to half of the charge current or lower. At warm temperature (T3-T5), JEITA recommends charge voltage less than 4.1 V.

The charger provides flexible voltage/current settings beyond the JEITA requirement. The voltage setting at warm temperature (T3-T5) can be VREG or 4.1V (configured by JEITA_VSET). The current setting at cool temperature (T1-T2) can be further reduced to 20% of fast charge current (JEITA_ISET).

    Thanks,

    Ning.

  • HI Ning,

What I wanted to ask is about the dotted line.
The dotted line reach to 0A when ambient temp is Warm status so I suspect the dotted line may be root cause that charging was stopped.

My understanding is voltage can be VREG or 4.1V but current is not changed at Warm so I don't understand the dotted line.

    Best regards,
    Koyo

  • Koyo,

At warm temperature (T3-T5), JEITA recommends charge voltage less than 4.1 V. Charging is still enabled.

    Thanks,

    Ning.

  • Hi Ning,

    What is the dotted line?
    Is this a wrong line?

    Best regards,

  • Koyo,

The dotted lines just want to highlight the thresholds described on the d/s: T2, T3, 4.1V. If the dotted lines look confusing, please refer to the descriptions.

  • Hi Ning,

Thanks, I understand the dotted line don't indicate charging current can be 0A at T3.
I sent an email which is related to this issue to you with the circuit.

    Best regards,
    Koyo
