TPS61096A: Is FB Network disconnected when device is disabled?

Part Number: TPS61096A

Hi

From the functional block diagram of the TPS61096A I can see there is a FET between VOUT and VOSNS.  I am assuming this is used to disconnect the feedback network when the device is disabled to reduce leakage current?  However, this is not clearly explained anywhere in the datasheet.  Please can you advise the thresholds for turning this FET on and OFF - is it directly linked to the ENABLE function.

Secondly, if the level shifters are not required, should LV1, LV2, HVO1 and HVO2 be floating or GND?

Thanks

Jim

  • Hi Jim:

The FET for FB will turn on in switching phase. It has a sleep mode and turn off  for a short period if the load is light. So that the converter can achieve low Iq and high efficiency with light load. And it turns off during the disable status.

For the level shifters, if it's not needed, you can short the input to ground and leave the output float.

  • Thanks Minqiu

I can't see these different modes explained anywhere in the datasheet?  Is there an applications note or similar that describes the behaviour, thresholds etc. in detail?

    Regards

    Jim
