BQ27441-G1: BQ27441-G1 VPU and BIN Pull up voltage

Part Number: BQ27441-G1

Hello,

In the BQ27441 datasheet, it mentions that

1. VPU not to pull to gauge VDD. Why and what is the risk?

2. BIN pull up to gauge VDD. Why?

On the other side, BQ27441EVM board offers option of whether pulling SCL/SDA and BIN to VDD or ext VCC.

So, what is the correct connection for VPU and BIN? The customer connected VPU to VDD in its design. will there be any risk?

Regards,

XG

  • Hello,

I believe it is not recommended to do this because the LDO may not be able to supply enough power to keep a stable voltage for the gauge. Let me double check with someone else on the team and let you know.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • The LDO isn't designed to source or sink current to outside circuits. Do not use the LDO output as a pull-up rail. This can and will cause various problems. The gauge may not even start up, depending on what you connect to the LDO output.
