Dear Team,

I am trying to build a GPS device with battery backup for cars

My charger IC BQ21040, powered via LDO TL751M  (input 12v and output 5v) .Battery size 150mah.

Every thing works fine but the LDO is getting heated up to 50-60 degrees , it is normal ?

  • Hi Anbumani,

LDO will generate heat this is normal, a switching buck converter would be lower heat for 12V-5V.
