REF3030: REF3030 ESD issue

Part Number: REF3030
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: REF3133, REF3333

Hi,

My customers use REF3030 (SOT-23-3) to power the MCU (input 3.3V, output 3V):

During the ESD air (6KV) test, when powering the MCU, 3V will drop, causing the power to restart.

They also moved the two CAP C3011, C3000 close to the IC, but not any improved.

If REF3030 is replaced with 431 the ESD test can be pass 20KV and meet the requirements

Is there any TI can provide help or reference design, or can I find a better ESD Voltage Reference IC?

Regards

Rock

  • Hi Rock,

This is unexpected. The HBM of the REF30 is 4kV so it is less than the 6kV board test. We do not have any device above 4kV.

If you are looking for similar devices to test I would look at the REF3133 and REF3333. These are P2P and different architecture devices.

REF3333 also has a high HBM = 4kV so it is also robust.
