TL5001: Availability or successor

Part Number: TL5001

Hello,

I have been looking for a device to control a PWM as a controller and the TL5001 seems to be perfect for my needs.

However, pulling a datasheet with a 1994 release date (and old TI format) is a bit unnerving to consider for a new design.

Can you provide some insight on long term support for this part?

Or...is there a successor or a similar part that I simply have not found?  Not really looking for a fancy converter with lots of modes.
I need it simple enough to be able to make sure PWM runs from nearly 0-100%, very broad industrial input range, and full frequency control somewhere between in the 10's to 100's of KHZ range.

Thanks

Glen

  • Hi Glen,

Thank you for reaching out.  TL5001 is released many years ago, since then we have released several parts able to support the similar application.  If you are targeting close to 100% duty cycle, you may take a look of LM3478/88. Note that we do recommend the switching frequency not to be lower than 100kHz.

    Thanks,

    Youhao

Ok.  I already have another unrelated design with the LM3478 so maybe I will modify that as a prototype.

    Thanks

    Glen
