TPS62811-Q1: ILIMNEG Parameter

Part Number: TPS62811-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62840

Hi Team,

May we ask for more information about the ILIMNEG parameter listed in the datasheet? Does this imply that the TPS62811-Q1 has the capability to sink current from the output?

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,

Jejomar

  • Hi Jejomar,

The negative Ilim is for some conditions when the current reverse to FET from the inductor and FET can not be damaged if the current is an inside limitation.

  • Hi Tanvee,

Thank you for your response. Can you elaborate on what you mean by 'if the current is an inside limitation'?

Is this characteristic similar to the reverse protection of the TPS62840 device as discussed on section 8.3.6 of its datasheet? We're finding similar explanations about the negative current limit of TPS62811-Q1 in its datasheet but to no avail. Would really appreciate if you could give us clarity on this.

  • Hi Jejomar,

The negative current limit can prevent the current flow back to the input and once the limit reaches the LS FET would be off and HS FET will turn on till next clock. The functionality is similar just High side FET would be turned on until the next clock.

    Hope this will help!

    Best regards,
