TPS61023: Low voltage input and the EN signal problem

Genius 5910 points
Part Number: TPS61023

I got a supercap boot converter circuit.

Supercap voltage is 2.6V output 5V.

The problem is when the input falls below 1.8V the Enable is switched off and the Boost converter is disabled. So most of the energy stored in the supercap is wasted. Any sugestions to solve this?

Attached a scope picture with the described behaviour .

Green output voltage

Yellow supercap voltage. EN is directly connected to Vin.

Thanks.

  • Hello evs,

If the EN pin is directly connected to VIN, it should only turn of the converter when VIN is falling below 0.45V max according to the datasheet.

Would you please share your schematic? Is there anything else connected to the EN pin that pulls it to GND?

Please trigger on the falling output voltage event and zoom in to check what is happening on VIN or EN then.

BTW, just for my understanding, the boost converter starts operating when the output voltage steps down a little around the middle of the scope plot, right?
