LP8758-B0: Add capacitor between sense lines

Part Number: LP8758-B0

I am using LP8758-B0 in a 4-phase configuration.
On my board, the remote sense line is the source of radiated noise.
The noise was suppressed by adding a capacitor of 4700pF between the remote sense lines.
How does the addition of capacitors (thousands of pF) affect power supply stability and transient response?
And is it serious?

  • Hello,

It makes perfect sense that the decoupling capacitor suppresses the high frequency noise. The sense line can pick up noise from the switch node and amplified by the loop gain. The 4700pF decoupling capacitor is very small compared to the BUCK output capacitor. They are in parallel. It does not affect the stability and the transient response.
