TPS7A4001: Creepage distance confirmation

Part Number: TPS7A4001

Hi Team

The gap between the chip pin pads is only 0.2mm, and the input voltage is 100V. Is there any creepage distance problem?

Best Regards

Gene

  • Hi Gene,

Notice how pins 6 and 7 next to Vin (pin 8) are NC. This is done so that the high voltage line is farther separated from other nets. The customer just needs to be sure that pins 6 and 7 are left floating.

Consider the following figure from the datasheet:

The distance from the edge of the pin 8 pad to the nearest net pin (pin 5) is 1.98mm - .45mm = 1.53mm. Using an online calculator, the minimum spacing on external layers for 100V traces is 0.6mm, so it is clear that there is sufficient spacing.

    Best regards,

    Nick
