TPS62823: Output Voltage Ripple During PSM Operation

Part Number: TPS62823

Hello,

I have a customer who is interested in using the TPS62823 for some power rails in their design.

They have expressed concern about the possible additional voltage ripple added when the device enters PSM under light load conditions.

I see that the datasheet mentions that the effect of transitioning into PSM is "seamless and without effect on the output voltage", however I'm wondering if we have any quantitative data to show this.

Are there any existing designs or plots that show the impact of PSM on the output voltage ripple?

Thanks!

  • Hi Tony,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

TPS62823 device the PSM to PWM transition depends on the applied load and operating input and output conditions.

There are simulation models available for the device that can help to run simulation with customer operating conditions and voltage ripple during light load to a high load transient.

     Best regards,
