TPS50601-SP: Voltage reference of the error amplifier

Part Number: TPS50601-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7H4001-SP, TPS50601A-SP

Hi Team,

We have received an inquiry from a customer about the tolerance of the error amplifier of TPS50601-SP. The voltage reference of the error amplifier is set between 0.792 and 0.816. The customer wants to know if the ageing of the component in the tolerance is included?

He also wants to know if there is slight oscillations on the reference that would lead to exceeding the tolerance? And finally is there a bias current on this amplifier that would enter the amplifier, if yes what would be the maximum?

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hi Danilo,

The datasheet limits encompass PVIN range, ILOAD range, temperature range, TID, aging, part to part variation but not necessarily all stacked to worst corner simultaneously.  For instance, TID testing only requires 25C testing.  We do have some statistical data where the variances of each of these sources is de-lineated.  Shall I email that to you to provide the customer?

Regarding the input bias current, we typically point customers to the TPS7H4001-SP datasheet for this information since this design uses the same error amplifier as used in the TPS50601-SP. As you can see in the datasheet the VSENSE pin input current is specified at  +/-15nA. It’s super small and will not have any effect on the regulation voltage.

    Thanks

    Christian

  • I have emailed you the char data for VREF.  With that I will close this thread.  Please let me know if we answered your questions by clicking the Resolved button.

    Thanks

  • Hello,

Thanks for your response. I didn't received the char data file for VREF. Could you send it to guillaume.bazin@sodern.fr

    Regards

  • Hi Guillaume,

I have emailed you the VREF char data.  Please check appropriate box is this Resolved the problem.

    Thanks

  • Hello,

I have looked at the VREF data send by Christian. They were very useful to analyse the temperature and ageing drifts.

Just one information is missing to complete a full worst case analysis of the component, it is the radiation drift of the VREF.

Is it possible to give me that information ? Maybe the same chart with the drifts of the VREF depending on the krad ?

  • Hi Guillaume,

The TID report for the TPS50601A-SP is published on ti.com at the following link.

     https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slva953

In this report you will find TID drift data for many parameters including VREF.
