LM5143-Q1: Correct functionality on a 4-layer PCB design

Part Number: LM5143-Q1

I designed 4-layer PCB with LM5143-Q1.

Configuration:
Vin = 24V
Vout1 = 3.3V, Iout1 = 7A
Vout2 = 5V, Iout2 = 10A

My question is: It is possible to provide correct functionality only on 4L PCB instead of 6L PCB? In my PCB desing tracks coming from current sense resistors is routed under the power MOSFETs. In evaluation board these tracks are routed in separated layer back of the power MOSFETs. Do I have to use a 6L design instead of a 4L design?

Thank you.

Best regards.

Samuel

  • Hi Samuel,

    If the switching frequency is 500kHz or lower, then a 4-layer PCB should be fine. Please use the LM5143-Q1 quickstart calculator file (downloadable from the product folder) to assist with component selection, compensation design and power loss analysis.
