TPS763-Q1: LDO suggestion for high CM noise prone environment

Part Number: TPS763-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS763, , TLV767, TLV767-Q1, TPS7A24

Hello,

We are looking for LDO suggestion in a high power inverter (150kW) application.

High common mode noise is expected to be present in the ground as integrated NTCs on the IGBT module in the application will be pulled up to the LDO outputs

Currently we are using TPS763 device and the load connected to the LDO is facing reset issues probably due to brownout.

  • Hi Abhijith,

Will you help to clarify the Vin, Vout, Iload for the LDO in the application? I can tell the LDO needs to have high PSRR performance, do you have any addtional requirements?

    Regards,
    Jason Song

  • Hello Jason,

    Vin >10V

    Vout=5V fixed

Iload = 50mA steady state. Not sure if there will be pulse loads present.  Loads consists of another LDO, external ADC with time division multiplexer, digital isolator and few pull ups.

Also, the LDO will be present on a board with 2oz copper and board temperatures can go upto 75degC in worst case ambient

    Regards

  • Abhijith,

TPS7A24 could be a candidate for this application as a p2p replacement, however the PSRR performance is similar TPS763. I would also look into TLV767 which delivers much better noise/PSRR performance than the TPS763-Q1. The TLV767 also has an AEC-Q100 qualified version TLV767-Q1 that's available in the event that you need an automotive qualified version. Let me know if either TPS7A24 or TLV767 is a good option here.

  • Dear Blake,

We would do a layout change. So p2p replacement is not a specific need.

    Thanks for your feedback

    Regards
