BQ24070: The charging current is larger than the set value

Part Number: BQ24070

Bq24070, the charging current I set is 900mA, please refer to the circuit diagram, but the actual circuit reaches 2A charging current in the charging state, STAT1 stat2 is displayed in the fast charging state, R45 = 1.2k Ω is used to set the charging current, please help to analyze the problem?

  • Hi Zhang,

I don't believe I see any issues with the schematic. Can you provide waveforms of the following:

    • ISET1 voltage
    • OUT voltage and current if has load
    • BAT Voltage and Current
    • TS voltage and current

What is the amount of current provided on VBUS?

  • When the battery is not connected, the VBUS current is very small, almost no; after connecting the battery, measure the charging current at the battery end, which is between 500mA and 900mA, which is normal, but the current at VBUS is 2A. No other load, please help to analyze the cause of abnormal VBUS current?

  • Hi Zhang,

Would you be able to provide the waveforms I previously mentioned? How is the 2A being measured? Is it before or after the D4 component?

You mention that the battery charge current is between 500mA and 900mA, is there an exact measurement or does it deviate this much on multiple tests?
