TPS610986: over load protection

Part Number: TPS610986

Hello Experts,

I have a question about the over load protection. How the device will behavior when Vout(main) is shorted to GND directly in boost mode? My customer checked this by a following conditions, the coil was damaged. So I would like to know whether TPS610986 can protect from a following conditions.
[test conditions]
- Vin=3V
- Vout(main)=3.34V
- Iout(main)=0.5mA (it is the load current before shorting output to GND.)
- Vout(sub)=3.31V (When device is active mode)
- Iout(sub)=25mA (it is the load current before shorting output to GND.)
* The current during output connected GND was around 3~4A.

The datasheet mentioned that:
"If the output voltage drops below the input voltage, the backgate diode of the rectifying switch gets forward biased and current starts to flow through it. Because this diode cannot be turned off, the load current is only limited by the remaining DC resistance. After the overload condition is removed, the converter automatically resumes normal operation."

So I think the device cannot protect such condition because the output voltage was less than the input voltage, then the current flow through body diode. Is my understanding correct?
