TPS1H200A-Q1: Open Load Detection

Part Number: TPS1H200A-Q1

Hi TI-team

My customer wants to know about "Open Load Detection"

Is this feature only detection, not protection ?

Does the Fault signal just go low ?

Does the OUT behavior change at the time of detection ?

Best Regards,

Koji Hayashi

  • Hi Koji Hayashi,

Is this feature only detection, not protection?

This feature asserts the Fault signal low and lets the user know that the load is off. The device will not turn off when Open Load is detected. Since there is no current going through the device, the channel is left ON in order to recover the device when the fault is removed. This feature could alert the system when there is a fault. That being said, you are correct, this feature lets the user know of an open load.

Does the Fault signal just go low?

The Fault signal asserts low when an open load is detected

Does the OUT behavior change at the time of detection?

The switch will remain enabled when the open load is detected.

  • Apologies, for some reason the image was not included.

  • Hi Francisco-san

    Thank you for response.

    >The switch will remain enabled when the open load is detected.

Are you saying that the behavior of the output depends on the load at the time ?

    My customer use Auto-Retry mode.

At first, Auto-Retry was repeated with the output open (however, the capacitor has about 10uF).

Next, they changed the current limit to 6A, and the desired output came out (no Auto-Retry operation).

After that, they changed the current limit back to 600mA, and the desired output came out, but without Auto-Retry operation.

Why does it Auto-Retry at the first 600mA but not when they change it to 6A and then to 600mA ?

  • Hi Koji Hayashi,

Would you be able to provide me with the portion of the schematic for the High side switch?

In addition, do you have waveforms measurements of the issue above that you could provide me with in order to begin the debugging for this issue?

    Sincerely,

    Francisco Lauzurique

  • Hi Francisco-san

    Thank you for response.

I've asked my customer for a schematic and waveform.

    Please wait for a while.

Also, since I can't upload to the forum (due to customer information), please register as a friend or let me communicate directly.

    Best Regards,

    Koji Hayashi

  • Hi Koji Hayashi,

This can be taken offline. Can you share your email with me in order to begin offline communication? Thank you very much.

    Sincerely,
