LMG5200: High side driver failure

Part Number: LMG5200

Hello,

I have an application where the top side FET has stopped switching. I can measure a diode drop from the SW pin to the VIN pin and no drop in the opposite direction, so I believe that the FET is undamaged. The bottom side FET is switching as expected. What are potential causes of the top side driver ceasing to function while the low side driver is unaffected? Are there further tests I could run or measurements to take to gain more insight into the failure?

Thanks,

Jesse

  • Hi Jesse,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you try to measure the off resistance for high side (VIN to SW) and low side (SW to GND)? Also have you tried to apply a 5V on the high side to see if it turns on (by measuring the resistance)?

Generally it's hard to see what's going on with the device without doing a failure analysis. Could you describe what happened previously that caused the damage?

    Regards,
