BQ79616-Q1: Why BQ79616 has busbar measurement instead of current sensing?

I wonder why BQ79616-Q1 has pin dedicated for busbar detection instead of current sensing? Why busbar measurement is so important?

    Hi Miles,

    For large module sizes the customer will have bus bar located at different places in the stack. Using the bus bar channel allows the bus bar to be connected to any cell (expect the bottom cell of a module). Since the bus bar is connection is shared with a cell, the dedicated bus bar channel (BBP/BBN) allows the host to obtain the actual cell measurement by substracting the bus bar measurement. 

    We do have devices in the family that support current sensing instead of bus bar if your application requires current sensing instead. See BQ75614-Q1.
