TPS23881: Powering Alt A and Alt B of a Port

Part Number: TPS23881

Hi,

I am planning to design a system which has 8 ports (4 Pair). To power all 4 pairs of 8 ports I have used 2 TPS23881 ICs.

I am planning to power first 2 pairs (Alt A) all 8 ports using IC-1 and remaining 2 pairs(ALT B) of all 8 ports using IC-2.

Please let us know if there is any issue with my design?

  • Hi Charan,

Is this a non-standard application where you just want to forced turn ON with 4 pairs? OR are you trying to be compliant to the standard? The ICs also do connection check per the IEEE BT standard and this may not work on two separate ICs. Is there are particular reason for this type of architecture? I recommend you use the same IC to drive 4 ports and a separate IC for the other 4 ports. Thanks!
