EV2400: EV2400

Part Number: EV2400
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27541-G1, , BQSTUDIO

Hi Team,

I am using EV2400 to read bq27541-G1. But for some reason, i see communication is not established.

  • My computer Win 10 64 bit, Device manage just shows "USB Input device" and won't say EV2400. Is that a problem?
  • Updated EV2400 firmware to 0.28

Please guide!

  • Hello Venkat,

Are you using the test version of bqStudio? Are you sure the EVM or test board is powered correctly? Check all connections to make sure they're secure.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt,

    Thanks for guidance.

Yes i tried both bqstudio 1.3.101 stable as well as bqstudio 1.3.102 test software.

Please find details of my setup attached.

    1. SCL is the white cable goes to the SCL on the battery (next to Positive)

    2. SDA the brown cable connected to SDA on the battery (second to positive tab)

    3. Ground is connected

    4. Positive is not connected.

Please kindly review and let me if i missed something.EV2400 Evaluation kit.docx

  • Hello Venkat,

Make sure the gauge is powered, if the EV2400 is recognized then it is most likely an issue with the connection to the gauge or the gauge isn't powered.

You should see the EV2400 in your devices listed as EV2400.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt,

Thanks so much for responding. In my Device manager it will just show USB Input device even though i have loaded sluc291 (EV2400 Support component). With the help of sluc578 (EV2400 updater) I was able to update Firmware. So on the same computer able to update firmware but may be not communicating? Is that possible?

I am going to try a desktop computer today.

At your convenience please also review the pictures document loaded yesterday as EV2400 Evaluation kit doc.

  • Hello Venkat,

I did review your document, it is helpful. It looks like everything is connected correctly on the EV2400 and computer, I'm just not sure about your connections to the EV2400 from the gauge because it is not using the EVM. Usually we recommend testing with the TI toolchain first before testing custom systems to more easily debug and find issues.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt,

I figured out the battery connection schematic was wrong. I am able to connect now after playing with connection and finding right SCL/SDA line.

Thanks so much for your help!

    Regards,
    Venkat
